True Colors

Shirt: Urban Outfitters, $10 // Skirt: Forever 21, $15 // Shoes: Vintage, thrifted, $2.50 // Necklace: Vintage, thrifted, $2 // Belt: Thrifted, $1

I hereby declare this the week of bright color combinations! Who am I kidding? I always wear bold shades, but not always to this degree. Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you have a beautiful weekend.

Sky Blue Sky

Shirt: Lulu's, $30 // Pants: H&M, $13 // Shoes: Lucky Brand, courtesy of Lucky Magazine //  Headband: Target, $6

You can't argue with a color combo from nature: sunny yellow and sky blue. Or at least that was my excuse for pairing these bold brights.

The latest issue of Ink features some spring fashion inspiration from local bloggers and boutique owners including yours truly. My co-worker snapped a clever pic of the cover on her phone that I thought I'd recreate for the blog.

Fruit Stripe

Dress: Ruche, $43 // Shoes: Lulu's, $28 // Necklace: Fred Flare, $11 // Ring: jcpenney, $6

Maybe the warm weather has gone to my head, but I couldn't help but pull out this summery favorite today. The wind didn't cooperate while we were taking photos, but it floats so nicely in the breeze. There was definitely some spring in my step today.

Fun with Color

Shirt: Old Navy, $10 // Jeans: TJMaxx, $18 // Shoes: Old Navy, $16 // Belt: Came with a dress // Bracelet: Forever 21, $9

I combated the Monday blues by adding several jolts of color to my outfit in the form of a yellow belt, red jeans and neon sandals. The gorgeous 80-degree day certainly helped to keep my mood light, too.

Blue Collar / White Collar

Dress: Courtesy of Thread Case // Shirt: TJMaxx, $10 // Shoes: Old Navy, $17 // Socks: Forever 21, $3 // Necklace: Courtesy of InPink // Glasses: Urban, $10

I liked the combination of classic denim and rugged boots with delicate, ladylike lace. The mismatched outfit mirrored the confused forecast... sometimes sunny and warm, sometimes cool and rainy day. I guess I got the best of both worlds today! Thanks to my roomie for the outdoor shots. Natural light makes all the difference!

Buckets of Rain

Sweater: Forever 21, $20 // Skirt: Forever 21, $10 // Shoes: Old Navy, $17 // Necklace: Vintage, $11 // Bracelet: Forever 21, $9

As much as I loved last week's beautiful sunshiney weather, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a total sucker for the dreary skies and incessant rain that have greeted us each day this week. Stormy weather isn't the most conducive to stylish outfits, nor does it provide ideal photography conditions, but I've truly enjoyed staring out the window listening to my favorite tunes and curling up on the couch with a blanket and movie. What kind of weather do you prefer?

Like Ancient Bruises

Dress: French Connection via Rue La La, $30  // Shoes: Payless, gift // Headband: Target, $7 // Bracelets: Forever 21, $7 each // Ring: Gift

Another sunny day, another blue dress. This sort of became my uniform last week. What can I say... spring weather just makes getting dressed so easy! I promise I won't get too lazy on you.

Babydoll

Dress: Target, $10 (similar style) // Socks: Forever 21, $2.50 // Shoes: Payless, gift (similar style) // Headband: Target, $6

The bow tie and trapeze-y silhouette of this dress always make me feel so sweet and girly. I played up that theme with polka dot socks, sunny sandals and flowers in my hair. Who knows if spring is really here to stay; I'm just going to soak up every ounce of it in the meantime!

Think Spring

Shirt: Urban, $10 (similar style) // Jeans: Urban, gift // Shoes: Forever 21, $25 (similar style) // Necklace: Courtesy of InPink (similar style) // Ring: jcpenney, $6 (similar style)

The wonderfully warm weather this week has me super excited about spring! I pulled out a couple of breezy pieces the other day including this pretty coral top (which I now see needed some serious ironing) and these fun floral wedges from last year.

Old Standbys

Dress: H&M, $30 // Tie: Borrowed from a different shirt // Shoes: Old Navy, $15 // Belt: Thrifted, $1

This is one of my favorite outfits I've worn in a long time! It's nothing groundbreaking. In fact, I'm basically wearing a bunch of elements that I've been repeating all winter: fuss-free dress, bow tie, navy tights and those trusty desert boots. Easy, girly, vintage outfits just really suit my mood right now! We are experiencing some incredible spring weather this week, so I am mixing things up a bit. I'm even rocking bare legs today.

Come Together

Sweater: Courtesy of jcpenney // Jeans: TJMaxx, $18 // Boots: Gift // Necklace: Courtesy of InPink //  Bracelets: Forever 21, $7 & $11

Sometimes the universe is on my side. Last week I was running late to an early morning meeting and got ready in record time. We're talking sub ten minutes. To my suprise, I actually liked my outfit! It's a bit more modern than my usual looks and felt fresh.

Pop of Purple

Top: Courtesy of the Limited // Jeans: Envy, $30 // Shoes: Prada, courtesy of Bluefly // Necklace: Forever 21, $6 // Bracelet: Forever 21, $9

The Limited offered to give me a peak at some of their key spring pieces. First up is the Collins Shirt. Because of the slouchy silhouette and pockets, I thought it would pair perfectly with jeans for a casual look, but I glammed it up a bit with accessories. I also see it looking lovely with a pencil skirt and pumps!

On the Up & Up

Shirt: Wild Man Vintage, $10 // Shorts: Courtesy of 80's Purple // Boots: Courtesy of BC Footwear // Tie: Borrowed from another shirt // Ring: Courtesy of InPink

Here's an outfit I wore way back when but never got around to sharing. The cherry shirt and bow-tie really capture the quirky side of my style.

Thanks for bearing with me while it's been so slow around here. I've been afflicted with various ailments, but everything's looking up! Happy Friday!

One Shot

Sweater: Swapped // Skirt: Thrifted, $5 // Collar: H&M, $3 // Shoes: Old Navy, $15

I only managed to get one shot of my outfit before going out over the weekend... and it's kind of a blurry, low-lit one at that. But I figured it's better than nothing! I liked how the leather mini added some sass to the quirky sequined collar and cozy sweater. More outfits and better photos to come soon!

Fashion for a Cause

Dress: Tucker for Target, $30 // Shoes: Old Navy, $15 // Necklace: Courtesy of 31 Bits

I've featured this dress several times before on the blog, but there's something extra special about this outfit -- the necklace from 31 Bits! 31 Bits is a socially-minded business that uses fashion and design to empower women to rise above poverty.  They work with women in Northern Uganda who make jewelry out of recycled paper. By selling the jewelry here, they not only provide a sustainable monthly income for the women, but also education and development programs that prepare the women for future careers. Their lovely new line for spring just came out. Check it out!
