Vinyl Vednesday, Vol. 9

Vol. 9
The Record: Electric Light Orchestra, ELO's Greatest Hits
The Refreshment: "Mr. Blue Sky" (Vodka, fresh grapefruit, fresh lime, soda and a touch of Blue Curacao for color)

When the boy picked ELO for Vinyl Vednesday, I went into it thinking I wasn't terribly familiar with their work. I knew "Mr. Blue Sky" thanks to the Eternal Sunshine soundtrack, but that was all that came to mind. To my surprise, I knew nearly every track on the record! Who knew they had such a collection of catchy hits without the major name recognition (or maybe that's just me). As for the beverage, Blue Curacao is not something I normally stock my bar with, and I'm not sure I will ever make it through the entire bottle I now own. But, the fresh, citrus-y concoction was tasty and looked purty to boot. Until next week!

Second Chances

With each change of season, I tend to get overly anxious for the coming weather change. Then, once it finally comes, I think of five outfits I should have worn before it warmed up (or cooled down). So, even though it’s nearly May and we’re experiencing a cool, drizzly spell, I’m relishing the opportunity to wear my sweaters and layers and boots before summer sets in.

Back Easter

More than a week later...here's what I wore on Easter. Outfit selection was as simple as scanning my closet for a spring-y floral print and adding flowers and a bee in the form of jewels!

Vinyl Vednesday, Vol. 1-8

A few months ago, my boyfriend and I started a weekly tradition called Vinyl Vednesday. What can I say? I love catchy, alliterative names, and this was the best I could do! Anyway...each Wednesday, one of us selects a record to listen to and the other creates a cocktail inspired by said record. It's so easy to get caught up in the craziness of day-to-day life or fall into the same rut when it comes to relaxation (cough, TV, cough). While I still get plenty of TV time, this tradition serves as a nice reminder to put away the electronics and just live in the moment for awhile. Plus, it combines my love of music, craft cocktails and themes! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen some of my Vinyl Vednesday coverage, but since it's always a highlight of my week, I thought I'd start sharing here on the blog. To play catch-up, here are the ones we've done to date (that I've remembered to document)!

Urban Outing

A recent quick thrift store road trip to Wichita wasn't terribly fruitful, but it was fun, and I snagged these shorts! Camo has never been a favorite of mine, but I've been decidedly drawn to it lately...especially when paired with other prints like stripes and leopard.

Accidental Poetry

Here's a layered look from last week. I was getting so burnt out on my winter staples that I made a concerted effort to reach for a few pieces that haven't gotten a lot of wear this season. It did the trick that day, and now I'm happy to say that warm weather appears to be here to stay! Whoa, did that rhyme?

Bring On Spring

The weather has had its ups and downs lately (case in point: tomorrow is going to be freezing!), but yesterday was dreamy...the warmest day we've had yet. I took full advantage by wearing a denim crop top and breezy skirt. Like last year, I'm loving matching separates. I have yet to find the perfect pairing though, so this almost-match will have to do for now.
