Lately I've been unable to resist textured textiles and fringe of any kind, so it's no surprise that this wrap skirt spoke to me. Paired with a super lived-in tee, classic denim jacket and my tried and true Chelsea boots, this outfit was fit for an easygoing evening.

Sips and Sounds, Volume 19
Vol. 19
The Sip: Cure for Pain
The Sound: Morphine, Cure for Pain
CURE FOR PAIN
In a glass, combine 1.5 oz tequila (I used Milagro Reposado), 1.5 oz alcoholic root beer (I used Small Town Brewery Not Your Father's Root Beer) and several dashes of bitter. Stir, add a big cube and enjoy! In a pinch, you could use non-alcoholic root beer, but make sure it's quality stuff.

Fall Protocol
Come cool weather, I invariably reach for old favorites - denim and cozy knits, particularly of the yellow variety.

Threads
I'm feeling the need for needlepoint lately...embroidered details are feeling so right! This intricate jacket was nestled in a rack at a consignment store, and I snatched it up for next to nothing. Paired with a basic denim foundation, its beautiful colors and pattern really sing. My gratitude goes out to the hardworking hands or high-tech machine that made this magic happen.

Sips and Sounds, Volume 18
Vol. 18
The Sip: My Boozy Valentine
The Sound: My Bloody Valentine, Loveless
It's been wayyy too long! I've truly missed the weekly ritual of Sips and Sounds and am ready for the return of regular installments. While my music taste is generally pretty predictable (folksy, melodic, lyrical, poppy and so on), lately I've been leaning more toward the post-punk persuasion. My Bloody Valentine is a band I've casually listened to in the past, but I've gained a new-found appreciation for their sound. As for the drink, I was craving the creaminess of an egg white concoction and wanted something bloody-colored, so this fairly straightforward but tasty beverage was born.
MY BOOZY VALENTINE
In a shaker, combine 1.5 oz bourbon, 1 oz tart cherry juice, 1 sugar cube, 1 egg white and a dash of bitters. Shake well without ice, then add ice and shake thoroughly again. Pour into your glass, top with a few more drops of bitters and enjoy!

Twinkle, Twinkle
Hello out there. It's been awhile! I just wrapped up a stint as a Wardrobe Assistant on Portlandia (hence my long absences of late). It was quite the experience. I learned a lot..about the art of shopping, about costume design, about all the people and processes behind the magic of television, about Portland, about myself. While I'm so thankful to have had the opportunity to play a part in such a cool, creative project, I'm also excited to get back to some of my other pursuits, including the blog! Here's what I wore to our department's embellishment-themed party (complete with an incredible drag show at the legendary Darcelle XV).

Quick Getaway
Last week I enjoyed a much-needed one-night vacation at a nearby hotel. The stately old building and crisp weather felt perfectly suited to a cozy, casual outfit. Even though I was relaxing, this look had a bit of back-to-school feel in the best way possible.
