Journey Into Night

Tee: Urban Outfitters, $4 // Cardi: Courtesy of Fossil // Jacket: F21, gift // Jeans: Courtesy of Fossil // Flats: Liz Claiborne via Plato's Closet, $8 // Necklace: F21, $9

Fall is really and truly here! Even all layered up, I was still cold in this outfit yesterday. While I'm eager to really kick my autumn style into gear, the fading daylight is definitely an unfortunate side effect of the season. The sun seems to mock me everyday as it shines brightly in my eyes during my drive home from work and then is nowhere to be found when I'm home and ready to take pictures! Perhaps I'll have to start waking up earlier and doing morning photos. Considering how much I already scramble to get out of the house on time, I kind of doubt that'll happen.

Happy Halloween weekend, everyone! I'm wearing a subtle costume at work today and have a more elaborate look planned for tomorrow, both of which I can't wait to share with you.

Cotton Candy

Sweater: Thrifted, $2 // Jeans: Tilt via Plato's Closet, $17 // Shoes: gojane.com, $25 // Turban: American Apparel sash, $13

Am I crazy for loving this big pink (way pinker than this photo suggests) sweater? Based on some funny looks I got today, I might be, but I don't mind! It's the softest, warmest thing I've ever put on. Perhaps it will be worn more on lazy days at home than out and about.

Halloween weekend is almost upon us! What are you going to be?

Luxe Lumberjack

Shirt: Thrifted, $1 // Jeans: Delia's, secondhand, purchased with credit // Necklace: Forever 21, $9 // Shoes: Prada, courtesy of Bluefly's America's Most Stylish Blogger contest
I don't wear these Prada booties very often for a couple of reasons. For one, I'm afraid of damaging them. I'm not used to wearing nice things! Secondly, they're terribly uncomfortable. When I do wear them, it always feels special, and I get lots of comments. I like how they add some glamour to this otherwise casual, rugged look. On an unrelated note, Halloween is almost here! Are you guys getting excited? I absolutely adore Halloween and can't wait to dress up.

The Cat's Meow

Top: Target, $27 // Pants: Vintage via clothing trade // Shoes: Vintage, thrifted, $1 // Belt: Came with a F21 dress // Earrings: Target, $5

In an attempt to remedy my waning inspiration, I did a little shopping! I didn't walk away with much because I was short on time, but among the loot was this amazing top. It's practically perfect in every way with its sheer animal-print fabric, loose fit and bow tie. I see myself wearing it so many ways, and so will you!

Blue Jean Serenade

Top: Rebecca Taylor, secondhand, $22 // Jacket: Forever 21, $10 // Jeans: Courtesy of GAP & Lucky // Shoes: Abaete for Payless

As part of the Lucky Alpha Shopper program, I recently received a pair of slouchy skinny jeans from GAP. They are definitely my kind of jeans. The laidback, worn-in feel of a boyfriend style meets the slim, sexy fit of a skinny to create the ideal balance of easy and chic. While I could totally see them with a cozy sweater and boots for a casual weekend look, I opted to add a dose of girly glamour and feminine flair with a structured, ladylike jacket, whimsical silk blouse and classic suede pumps.

Back in Action

Sweater: Banana Republic via Plato's Closet, $5 // Skirt: Urban Outfitters, $10 // Boots: gojane.com, $35 // Scarf: Gift

Sorry it's been so quiet around here! My official picture-taker was out of town, and I suck with the tripod. Then the weekend was super busy in the best way. Anyway, enough excuses. I'm ready to get back to it this week. I feel like I've been in a bit of a rut recently. Winging it each morning has not been working out, so I think I need to really focus on doing some outfit planning. We'll see how that goes...

Going to the Chapel

Dress: Courtesy of ModCloth // Cardi: TJMaxx, $12 // Shoes: Forever 21, gift // Earrings: Vintage, gift // Clutch: Courtesy of Lucky Magazine
Some friends of mine got married on Saturday. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony and an equally beautiful day. I was glad to have an occasion to debut this dress. I just adore the art deco feel of the bodice, as well as the form-fitting shape. Now that I've dressed it up, I'm looking forward to wearing it more casually with a chunky cardigan and boots.

Mixing it Up

Sweater: Banana Republic via Plato's Closet, $5 // Skirt: H&M, $10 // Shoes: Payless, gift // Necklace: Goodwill, $1 // Headband: Urban Outfitters, $5

It is my belief that any neutrals can be mixed and matched, but my principle was put to the test yesterday while getting dressed. I put on this outfit as you see it and found myself desperately longing for my grey sweater to be camel; it would look so much better with the warm tones of the leopard print. I came this close to scrapping the look all together but then decided to power through. After adding accessories, reminding myself of my own "rule" and giving the ensemble a stern stare in the mirror, I decided I loved it just like this.

Pumpkin Patch

Shirt: ModCloth, $20 after credit courtesy of ModCloth // Shorts: Thrifted & cut off, $5 // Shoes: Steve Madden, courtesy of Famous Footwear

On Saturday I partook in one of my favorite fall activities: a trip to the pumpkin patch! We loaded up on pumpkins to carve and enjoyed apple cider slushies because the weather was too warm for hot cider. I felt just right in this comfortable, casual ensemble featuring my new loveable rabbit shirt. It's easy to thrown on yet full of character. I've worn it three times in less than a week, so it's become a fast favorite.

Fit to Print

Shirt: Vintage via Salvation Army, $5 // Pants: Old Navy, $10 // Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless

The print of this top immediately caught my eye; it's like nothing I've seen before. Though I wasn't sure if I would actually wear it, I knew right away that it would be mine. Beyond the colorful geisha motif, I (predictably) fell in love with the large bow. I wasn't entirely sure how to syle it, so I went with a simple, menswear-inspired look that had me feeling like quite the quirky dandy.

C'est La Vie

Dress: H&M, $22 // Sleeveless Trench: Forever 21, $15 // Boots: Vintage via Wildman Vintage, $15 // Belt: Thrifted, $1 // Necklace: Forever 21, $9

I've worn this garment from Forever 21 a couple of times as a dress, but it makes way more sense as a sleeveless trench. Despite that discovery, I just wasn't feeling this outfit for some reason. There's nothing I hate about it, but I just didn't feel great in it. I'm feeling better about my look today, so I'll plan to post again this evening!

Fresh Start

Shirt: Thrifted, 50 cents // Shorts: Forever 21, $20 // Hose: Walgreens, $5 // Boots: Vintage via Wildman Vintage, $15 // Scarf: Gift

Confession: I'm not a very organized person. Based on my personality, I feel like I should be organized. I desperately want to be organized. But, no matter how hard I try, I'm just not. That being said, I set my mind to getting my closet in order this past weekend. Inspired by the cool fall weather, I lugged boxes of woolly winter jackets out of storage. I packed my light floral frocks away. I filtered out as much fluff as I could. It took the better part of a Sunday and is not perfect, but it's much improved. This is the first outfit I pulled from my fresh, new closet. Bring it on, fall!
