The Third Challenge

This Necessary Objects knit mini-skirt, the third item in the Bluefly / StyleList America's Most Stylish Blogger contest, may fall into the "basics" category, but there is no doubt that it makes a bold statement. With its curve-hugging fit, cropped hemline and vibrant color, it demands an outfit with a wild side. To add some interest with pattern, I paired it with a laid-back black & white striped tee. The fitted cotton moto jacket and black biker boots up the cool factor. A strand of chunky beads and a pair of thigh-high socks complete this fun yet edgy look.

The guest judge, Nicole Miller, said she liked the look but would have preferred opaque socks, and I couldn't agree more! I originally had on a pair of thick knit socks, but I thought they looked too heavy with the rest of the outfit. Looking at my final photo, the sheerness of the socks stuck out to me, too. Oh well, live and learn.

I kinda agree with the sock thing too but I love the way you put together the look. I love your makeup and hair and your "I'm a badass don't mess with me" expression. I really like your takes on it because they are more realistic than some of the others.

I just voted for you! I still like this look...I think opaque socks are expected...I like that you did it with the sheer!

Love this, well done!
I quite like the sheer socks, opaque might have been a bit too much.

You what I like about the sheer knee-highs is the risk.... you went out on a limb there, and I love that about it! Most of the other contestants paired it with sheer black tights, so you stood out from the crowd without being bizarre, like the headwrap. Way to go, you got my vote like always!

I don't know if I agree with the sock thing. The socks were the first thing I noticed and I love how they hit the over-the-knee trend but are still unusual. I have plans to punk this look.
