Poll: Should I chop my locks?

It's that time again. My ends are getting scraggly, so I at least need a trim. But every time I get a haircut, that little voice urges me to chop it all off. I usually just ignore it, but this time around, I'm seriously considering taking the plunge. I know it's kind of annoying when people demand hair advice. I mean... who cares? But I figure you guys have to look at me a lot, so your opinion really does matter. And I'm bad at making decisions...

So, because I'm a list person, here are the pros and cons of getting it cut.

PROS
  • I've had the same haircut for at least a couple of years now and am getting rather bored. Dyeing requires too much maintenance, so it's out of the question.
  • Hair grows back!
  • Right now I only like the way my hair looks after I've washed it, and I don't like to wash it every day.
  • I had short hair all through college, so it's not uncharted territory.
  • It would be fresh and exciting!

CONS
  • I would no longer be able to rock the up-dos. See Exhibit A and Exhibit B.
  • It took an endless amount of time (and patience) to get it to this length.
  • Awkward "in-between" lengths are the worst if I decide to grow it back out.

I feel really lame for posting a picture of a celebrity, but oh well. This is pretty close to what I would get: a "long bob" with bangs. My hair is stick straight, but I would totally wear it wavy sometimes. Photo from beautysnob.com.

So what do you think? Thanks for humoring me on this somewhat trivial matter.

Should I cut my hair?

YES

NO

I voted yes! I did it and I don't regret it. It will grow back!

You can totally pull off the Katie do. You're so cute, you could work any length! Good luck. I on the other hand, while dying to cut off my hair, have decided to deal w/ it a while longer and give it all to locks of love.

You'll look great either way. The awkward in between length is super annoying but it will grow back. Why not? You only live once right? :)

Honestly, your hair isn't super long right now and I think that shorter do would look fabulous on you!! You have the straight hair and bangs, it would look so great.

And you're right, it will always grow back! If you're super upset with it (if you do it) get clip in hair like Katherine Heigl in The Ugly Truth ;-) hehehe.

No but seriously, I would totally get clip in hair if it looked as good as hers in the movie!! =)

I'm so happy I chopped mine off. And you save money on shampoo!

That haircut is really cute. Plus, if you don't like it, you can just grow it out again.

this would be gorgeous on you. it would totally bring more attention to your delicate features. (haha, that sounds weirdo, but it's true.)

I always have this same dilemma when I want to cut my hair- but I think you could really rock short hair.

go for it! if you've been thinking about it awhile, why not? it grows back. and you have such nice sleek hair that i think it's the perfect texture to pull of that bob. ~joelle

We have a consensus, and it's yes! I think you would look adorable and very chic with a bob. I think it would compliment your facial structure perfectly. And hair grows back. It's an experience! :}

You totally should! I recently had my hair cut in a short bob with bangs and it's the easiest you can get to chic with little maintenance. Besides, even if you end up not liking it, you can rock the hats and scarves!

You can still put it up! Like Elinkan here http://elinkan.blogg.se/2009/august/flator.html

You have a beautiful face, and you could totally rock a shorter hairdo. I had the exact same cut as the photo you posted a few years ago, and again a few months ago. I absolutely loved it, however I have natural curly hair and I flat ironed it everyday. Since you have straight hair, I bet it would be gorgeous!

A few months ago I was having this same dilemma and I decided to go for it. It ended up not being very flattering on me, but I was glad I went for it so now I know not to do it again, plus I'm totally a fan of the growing out stage, it's usually quite cute. Anyway, I think you should take the plunge, you never know unless you try!

I think you should chop it, so long as you keep the thick bangs--you look gorgeous with bangs!
