Shopping for Fall

Top: Alice+Olivia via Plato's Closet, $10 // Pants: Old Navy, $20 // Shoes: Dollhouse via TJMaxx, $25 // Glasses: Ragstock, $5

I typically don't make shopping lists for each season. In fact, I deliberately avoid doing so for fear that I will fall prey to too many trends. There are a few fall items that I've been casually keeping an eye out for: chunky sweaters, lace-up boots, leopard print accessories and skinny cords... which I found last night at Old Navy. I haven't worn cords in years because they tend to be more loose-fitting. It's such a soft, rich fabric for autumn, so I'm excited about this new silhouette that's been popping up. What are you buying for fall?

That's my favorite top you own! The one I had to stop you at the water cooler to ask about. LOVE the bow & buttons in the back <3

I pretty much love everything about this outfit. After seeing these skinny cords I may have to hop on over to Old Navy soon, and grab a pair myself.

Wow, what an awesome top! I can't believe someone would bring that to Plato's closet. I'd never let it go.

That is a great top, you find the best stuff! I really wish I had the patience to do the same, when I want something I just get it, even if it isn't on sale... good thing I don't want too many things that badly.

Aww! Your shirt is so cute!! <3

I don't usually put together a list for the new seasons, either. This season, however, due to my shocking lack of clothes, I thought I had better to keep myself on track. It was only a short list, though:

Skinny jeans *check*
Tall black boots
A black leather jacket *check*
And more graphic tees (I love those) *sorta check*
So, I'm getting there... :)

By the way, I just found your blog earlier today, but I am really loving it! I'll definitely be back often! :D

That is the most adorable top I've ever seen. I'm a little jealous. It looks like a trip to plato's in is order!

I'm really looking for big, soft knits this fall/winter-something that makes me think of cuddling up by the fire with my sweetheart and some cider! And some pretty grey wedges to wear with tights....

ooh, i love cords. i have a few older pairs that are a bit slouchy/bootcut, which i may try to alter so they're more close fitting.

I'm loving the skinny cord trend too. I have a mustard pair that I absolutely love, but I kind of want a more neutral-colored pair as well. These look particularly great with that cute retro blouse!

I kind of keep a list of things to look out for like you do but for the most part I let things find me. I sure wish that Alice + Olivia top would find me!

that top is a great find - the details make it.

i'm not much for cords - i remember wearing them a lot a few years ago in my middle school/early high school years.....now i know what adults talk about when they see us kids wearing leggings and other 80s fare. lol :)

My fall wish list includes dark ankle skinnies, a perfect camel trench, new fall tights in lots of colors and textures, and a great military jacket. I feel like I could do a lot with the things that are already in my closet with all of these items.

Adorable top! I picked up a pair of skinny cords on sale last year at JCrew and will be wearing them a lot I predict. Perfect fall / winter fabric, and so nice to have in a fitted style.

Leopard print accessories are a must for me. And love those cords. You are right, they are usually have more volume to them. I am liking them skinny! And great top! Oh, and also I would LOVE a camel coat for Fall...if I can find one the right price!
