Though it was entirely unintentional, I realized after getting dressed this morning that today's outfit employs all the same elements as yesterday's: black & white stripes, grey and a pop of bold color. Despite the parallels, this look has a much more whimsical, feminine feel thanks to the silhouette. I guess when it comes down to it, that's what remixing is all about: reinterpreting the same source material again and again to create new and unique combinations.

Read My Lips

I love the idea of letting lipstick do all the talking for an outfit (these pictures don't adequately capture the brightness of this fuchsia shade). Today's mostly black ensemble provided the perfect foundation to do just that. Sometimes simple is superior.

Also, I get flak sometimes for not smiling more, so here you go. Squinty eyes and all.

High School Sweetheart

I'm not certain what era this sweater is actually from, but it feels so '50s. Though I've never featured it on the blog, I've worn it many times and always have the urge to pair it with these glasses. The combination makes me feel like a huge dork in the best possible way.

The 30 for 30 challenge has certainly showed me what I don't like about the items I picked. For example, this red skirt is too big for me. More generally speaking, I've found that certain silhouettes and particular pieces are just not versatile for me. That's not to say this process has been undertaken in vain. It has allowed me to flex my remixing muscles and has caused me to appreciate what I have in my closet more than ever. Each time I realize something is missing from my selected items, I remember a piece I have and love but didn't include. What I'm really getting at is this has been a valuable learning experience, but I cannot wait to get back to my full closet. If I ever do it again, I'll have a much better idea of what to pick. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but I love Fridays! Especially this week for some reason. Anyway, this is actually Thursday's outfit. I've had this skirt for a long time but hardly ever wear it, which is strange considering I wear the hell out of my other striped items. This look is just a slight variation on others I've worn recently, but it worked for me. Happy Weekend, everyone!
