Black Tie Affair

Top: Ann Taylor, secondhand, $22 // Blazer: H&M, $35 // Jeans: Tilt via Plato's Closet, $18 // Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless
It wasn't purposeful, but the top half of today's look feels totally tuxedo-inspired. Perhaps that's why all my usual girly accessories were cast aside, and I felt the urge to give my hair a more masculine feel. As for the bottom half, the light-wash jeans give the ensemble a casual daytime twist, and the strappy sandals add some modern edge.

I love this look and probably would have paired a skirt with it myself. Good job allowing yourself to add some edginess to a formal top half.

That second close-up photo of you is absolutely stunning. I love how your (even) shorter hair makes your eyes look so big - totally in a good way. It is beautiful!

Your outfit today inspired me to run upstairs and try to recreate this. I recently picked up a cream lace shirt gathered at the waist and with ruffles. I had previously picked up a cropped tuxedo jacket at a consignment store. With jeans and strappy black shoes, it was awesome. Thanks for helping me add a cool outfit from items I already had!

Love this look! Especially the darling jacket. I do wish there were jewelry involved somewhere, though, like a spiky goth cuff or big man-style watch. I am so in awe of the shoes! All of the siriano shoes I've tried on were fug on me instead of fierce. I'm inspired to keep trying now!

Ooh! You're wearing my favorite LOFT blouse! I bought it back when I used to work there. :) This is how I usually style it, too... with a blazer, heels and skinny jeans. You've reminded me that I need to wear mine more often!
