The Little Black Dress: Day to Night

There's nothing more quintessential in the world of fashion than the Little Black Dress. It's a chic, timeless classic that can be styled in countless ways. ModCloth, a generous conference sponsor, gave each blogger the Weardrobe Dress (their take on the LBD). I love this idea because it will undoubtedly demonstrate how different the same dress can look depending on who's wearing it.

To show off the versatility of this cute little dress, I decided to do a day and a night look. For the day look, I wanted something I could wear to the office, so I knew layering was key. Because a jacket would have masked the pretty pleating detail, I opted to wear the dress over a ruffly silk blouse. A polka dot scarf, taupe booties and a simple gold chain complete this vintage-inspired ensemble.

For night, I kept it simple but added some glitz with a sequin vest, some sass with a leopard scarf and some color with hot pink studded slingbacks. I'll have to show you a close-up of these soon since you can't really see the studs.

I have to apologize for the wrinkles; these shots were taken after sitting at my desk all day, so I didn't look as fresh as I would have liked! Thank you ModCloth and Weardrobe. This was fun!

Thanks, everyone!

Clare - Beware of the shoes! While I have plenty of affordable shoes that are totally comfortable, these are sooo painful. It's because the heel is 4" or so, and there's no platform of any kind. I made the mistake of going dancing in them. Ouchhhh.
