Countdown to the Cut: 1

WAVY

I had neither the patience nor equipment to pull this one off, which provides a nice segue to what I want to say about my relationship with hair. Several of you have made a great point: showcasing all these styles is going to make me want to keep my long hair! Well, I already cut it, and I have no regrets! You see, I'm not a "hair person" at all. I feel like I don't have the skills or desire to do a lot with my hair in terms of styling, so a low-maintenance, no-fuss haircut is perfect for me! Though long hair provides endless possibilities, I very rarely took advantage of them. As my stylist was cutting my hair, I felt no sense of panic or attachment whatsoever. This little countdown was just a last hurrah with the long hair. Stay tuned, the new cut will makes its debut this afternoon.

eep! i can't wait to see your new haircut. all these photos of your long hair are so pretty- it must be a little sad to see it go. but i know you'll rock the short 'do as well, and it'll be fun to try something new! ~joelle

The anticipation is intense!

I know what you mean, though. Personally I always need my hair to change so I alternate between long and short. My stylist is always nervous to cut it short so I have to assure her that I don't care and it will be fine, haha. I guess a lot of their customers freak out about their hair so they're not used to having someone so calm and sure of a cut.

Exciting! Great points! I never feel connection to the disappearing hair when I get a big cut either. It cracks me up when the women on What Not To Wear act so freaked out... it's just hair! Yours is going to look amazing, and I think I was one of the people who voted not to cut! :)

I'm not a "hair person" either. I never understand people who cry after a "bad" haircut or feel this big emotional attachment. Don't get me wrong, I love when my hair is freshly styled and looks nice...but it's hair. It grows back, I can change the color...it'll all be okay. Honestly, on "school days" my hair is in a messy bun half the time anyway.

That said, very excited to see your new cut! I've been debating going short for awhile now.

I can't wait! I know it's going to look stunning!

I'm totally with you on the hair philosophy - I'm the same way. I always want to smack the girls who cry about their haircuts on ANTM. Weenies...

I am VERY similar to you with the low maintenance requirement for hair...unfortunately I always seem to feel that the shorter it is the harder to maintain. But I guess that's just because I'm a soccer girl at heart, and love to toss my hair into an easy ponytail.

Your new haircut is SO ADORABLE. Seriously, it looks awesome!

(but I love these curls too)

Congrats!
