The Weather Outside is Frightful

Coat: Delia's, $50 // Sweater: Thrifted, $8 // Jeans: Courtesy of Fossil // Hat: NYC street vendor, $10ish // Boots: Thrifted, $4

While I've really enjoyed recent pictures of bloggers looking chic against snowy backdrops, the bitterly cold weather prompted me to wear the exact same (not so chic) outfit two days in a row: my plaid peacoat, a sweater I bought for an ugly sweater party that I secretly like, jeans, knee-high wellies and my furry hat. Ridiculous? A little. Warm and cozy? Most definitely.

Warmth trumps style any day!

It's refreshing to see what people *actually* wear out in the snow! Everyone is freezing their butts off wearing tanks and skirts in the snow, and putting their jackets on after the pics.

I like seeing a cute coat =D

Hey, this is winter chic for those of us not in the city. I plan to sport something very similar to the tree farm this weekend. And I will love every minute of it.

You look so cute and I love your new 'do peeking out from the hat.

Love it!! Especially your facial expression, awesome! Yep that's how we have to dress in the midwest a lot of the time to survive the freeze hey? hehe. Hope you guys didn't get as much snow as we did...

hey! I have those boots too! I wear them to the barn, but I like them for rainy days in the city too. I'm a big fan of the big furry hat, as well.

Amen. It's freaking me out to read all these blogs with the girls wearing dresses and one pair of tights, standing near snow. DUDE, it's 1 deg F in Lawrence today. EFF that. I feel like wearing my whole closet outside.

I don't think your sweater qualifies as an ugly sweater -- I think it's pretty. I love your mix of red & black through different patterns. - JoAnn

I love the sweater/plaid coat combination. I know how cold it can get in that part of the world.

They say petite girls shouldn't wear boots, but you pull it off perfectly.
