Oh wow wow wow! My birthday was 2 weeks ago! I had this EXACT jacket on my wishlist, but no one bought it for me :(. I'd put it over a dress like this one:
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=dress_casual&product_id=2062895121&Page=all

that's to mix up the harshness of the jacket with some soft colors and pattern. Chunky heels of course!

I'd wear it with dark skinny jeans rolled up at the bottom, a long black and white striped shirt, and brown high heel booties. And gold bracelets and rings with a long black necklace. And my hair in a french twist!

awwh this is super cute!
i would pair it with some white skinny jeans, some killer knee-high black leather boots, or one of my classic pairs of doc martens, and of course you need some awesome gold hoops, about 2 inches in diameter!!!

Love the jacket because of it's sleek structure and detailing. I wish my whole closet was filled with BB Dakota. I might pair it with a relaxed Kain T-shirt to contrast the jacket and some j brand jeans (If only I could afford it all!). Following chickdowntown on twitter and facebook...love that they carry so many brands with different price ranges.

I love it! Love yours, too. The BB Dakota one reminds me of my childhood Nutcracker performances. I'd wear it with a short printed dress made by myself, probably one with a graphical print like polka dots, gray pearls, and also my favorite oxblood heels. And hair up to show off the collar!

Amazing, endless loving jacket...

Russian Red lipstick + crazy poofy soft 60's hair + long Goodwill pencil skirt + tucked-in pussy bow blouse + dark tights + gold brogues

Thank you & have a very merry nice day!

I love that jacket, I'd pair it with something simple to let the jacket stand out. I'd probably wear it with some black skinny pants, ankle boots, and maybe a white shirt for contrast.

I seriously have not seen a giveaway that I'm as excited about as this one!! I've been cooing over military inspired jackets for months now!! I would probably over-wear it, with all styles and outfits, but it would ideally be paired with skinny jeans, oxfords, and a loose flowy shirt. My fingers are SO crossed!

Ooo count me in!
At first I'm picturing it with light skinny jeans and my favorite sky-high black heels - and a simple white t.
...but i could also see it happily clashing with a floral skirt!

I was just wondering what the heck is going on with payless? Do all stores have the Alice + Olivia stuff? I haven't walked into a payless in years, which is probably why I haven't seen it. Is it work walking into Payless now? I wonder if the Payless stores here have it....hmmm.
Those shoes are definately hot.

Unknown said...

Wow, that's gorgeous!

I would probably mix it up quite a bit, but I would love to wear it with my black skirt, boots and maybe a pretty neck scarf so it's not too harsh.

I clicked on the BB Dakota link and saw what the model was wearing with...BUSY!

With a jacket like this, you firstly need to have the right personality. Not a jacket for a meek girl because then the jacket is wearing you. YOU need to own the jacket and look confident, and not like a MJ wannabe.

That being said, I love it in the black, and would keep it simple with skinny dark jeans (not distressed) and a t-shirt (color is your choice...would avoid red). No gloves!
Additionally, this jacket over a floral dress might be fun, a juxtaposition of drummer boy/military/girl/gamine would be cute.

cute jacket! i love it.

Love the jacket. To keet it from coming off as too "costume-y" I would pair it with some long cut, dark wash, high-waisted skinny jeans with a slinky off-white colored dolman t-shirt, some long chain necklaces in steel and gold, a chain link strap purse, some Clubmaster Ray Bans (in black), and either some flat black oxford/jazz flats or some black gladiator heels (depending on if I was going for a casual look or an edgy night-out look). Top all that off with some Dior Show mascara and some dark maroon lipstick and you have a killer look. :)

Knowing me, it'd end up thrown over a white v-neck tee and skinny jean most of the time, but man would this be fun to play around with. fingers crossed!

take care, hon. -- jaime

I heard this was inspired by michael jackson which is awesome. i'm not sure how i'd style it...maybe with a plain color top and some jeans. I think my sister would use it a lot with jeans, heels, and a nice top. She loves to dress things up in a casual way.

Fab jacket! When those military-inspired Balmain jackets exploded, I thought the women who wore them best kept the rest of the outfit completely casual. So, I would wear it with skinny jeans, a white ribbed tank, and some great boots or booties.

I just got Glamour in the mail today and this jacket is in it! Crazy! I would probably wear it with something understated like you are- maybe skinny jeans and a white tee... possibly a simple cotton tank dress....

Questions or Comments: I would probably leave it
open and pair it with
a flirty dress inside.
The dress wouldnt be anything too over the top, as the jacket very much makes a statement. The shoes
however would be fun! They would be a pair of heels that have super
flaired ruffling in the back made of tulle.

Lynn said...

I would wear it with a full white knee-length skirt and red lipstick

Good Golly, I would wear this on all occasions! Over jeans, dress, with a high-waisted skirt. And of course with fantastic heels. It is so fabulous!!

It may sound nerdy but it reminds me so much of one of my all time favorite bands, my chemical romance. Haha! When their concept album "The Black Parade" came out, they all had matching marching band outfits. Too cute. I would wear this onstage at one of my own band's shows. Ooh I absolutely adore it!

Unknown said...

I would wear it with a flowy, feminine dress to contrast the military aspects of the jacket.

Loves it!

This is so cute...I would definitely wear it with some dark wash skinny jeans, black patent heels and probably just a plain white tank. So cute!

I'm just going to toss out some ideas here...

I might wear it with a mid-thing length white dress with crochet detailing at the top and bottom. It's possible that would be too much, but I kind of like it in my head.

Maybe simple with some dark to medium wash skinny jeans and a pair of Chucks. Low top, always low top. Possibly a pair of light brown leather booties. I'd keep the shirt simple.

I'm also playing with ideas of a full skirt in my head, but I'm thinking it would have to be a mini, definitely above knee-length.

As a last thought,a floral dress, textured tights and docs might work as well.

Well, as you can see I'm good at extremes. Either there's a lot going on or very little.

Jilliebeanie said...

Wow. This jacket rocks my world. I would probably play off the whole marching band theme. Maybe wear it with white skinnies and a jewel-tone ruffled blouse and massive platforms. Oh my, I love it.

Nana Erin said...

and a tee, and a frilly dress. ohhhhhhhh. a frilly dress. :D

Erin Cathleen said...

I love this marching band/military jacket trend too, and that particular jacket, so Balmain-like, has endless possibilities. :) I'm picturing it over a ruffled white button-down top, paired with the cropped skinny jeans with zippers at the ankles that are everywhere this fall, with hot pink suede booties for a jolt of color... sort of a boho-rock romance. I'd keep the makeup soft, dewy and neutral and the hair down and flowing. The jacket would also toughen up a floral or lace dress, but do so quite sweetly. :)

Oh, and I love how you've shown us the way to wear a military jacket in the summer. It's adorable with your floral top and denim shorts!

Sydney said...

I've been loving this Sgt. Pepper look for so long but haven't found an affordable piece! I would style it with some sort of structured, voluminous skirt. Definitely with emphasis on the jacket :]

I adore this look, lets me relive my days in band without all the undertones of nerdiness. I would wear this with dressy black shorts and heels, and when it gets cooler it would look great open, over a white tee and paperbag-waisted pants.

I love the history behind military jackets. Even if it is a fashion adaptation of a genuine one, it is fascinating to see what they were influenced by, civil war jackets, light cavalry, military band etc. Then the exciting part comes when you can mix it up with current fashion trends. Taking my cue from Kenzo Fall 09, I'd try pairing the jacekt with a long delicate top, perhaps something sheer and embellished, with some cropped wide-leg pants and some killer platform wedges.
